16- Leadership development is a lifetime journey - not a brief trip - John C. Maxwell
I believe this now more than ever. About fifteen years ago, I though I had a handle on leadership No doubt, I did understand some significant leadership principles. But the more I grow, the more I recognize that my own leadership development will take a lifetime. it's not something we can pick up from a weekend conference. We must commit out lives to it.
17- The test of leadership: Turn around and see if anyone is following you - John. C Maxwell.
This is the acid test of leadership. If you want to evaluate your own leadership, look at the people following you. Is anyone following? What kind of people to you attract? Does your vision compel people to follow? Are they committed to the vision? This is a simple series of questions every leader should ask himself.
18- My responsibility is to be a supervisor, not a super-worker - Fred Smith
Sometimes when we experience growth in our organization, we forget that our role as a leader must evolve too., The larger our organization grows, the less we can do by ourselves. We must commit ourselves to the task of oversight, or we will be overworked. While we must always model work, out chief task is empowering others to work.
