70 - If you pay peanuts, expect to get monkeys - John C. Maxwell,
I believe in having a staff that is " lean and mean " rather that " fat and sassy." As my last church grew, we were able to do so without adding any new staff over a long period of time. The reason ? I paid my pastoral staff well, and I got the best . Because I paid them well, I was able to maitain a strong core, and as we grew they assumed multiple responsibilities, And they did't have to work for peanuts.
71 - I recommend you to take care of the minutes, for the hours will take care of themseslves - Lord chesterfield
Sometimes we miss the forest for the trees, and other times we miss the trees for the forest. When we only see the " big pictures " and fail to ses to is that the " minutes " are dealt with appropriately, we may miss accomplishing our big-pictures goals. If we take care of the little things, we can build on that foundation, and eventually the hours will fall into place.
72 - Being in power is like being a lady, If you have to tell people you are, you aren't - Margeret Thatcher
I love this qauote form Margaret Thather of England. Any time our leadership is not obvsious enough to those around us that it requires an explanation, we're in danger of losing it, If you must continually remaind poeple that you are in control - someone else is likely assuming that role. Leadership should appear natural and be evident to all.
