13- You cannot push anyone up the ladder unless he is willing ti climb a
little - Andrew Carnegie
No one can succeed for you. Succdess isn't gift to be given away. Believer me,
I have tired many times to " jump start " one of my stafff, just to help them
make it beyond where they miht have gone alone. Some responded and reose to the
challenge. Others, despiter my optimism, wsere unbale of uneilling to climb s
step up the ladder.
14- An important question for leaders: " Am i building people, or
building my dream and using people to do it?" - John c. Maxwell
Jack Hauyford taught me something yeare ago. He said, " our goal isn't to
build a big mosque - but, to build big people. " If we invest in people and
develop- them into mission-driven disciples, we will see our dream for the
mosque accomplished. People quickly ascertain whether we are building them or
using them.
15- Leadership is not wielding authority - it's empowering people -
Becky Brodin
Too many leaders make the mistake of thingking when they reach the top, it
means they can use thier position and power to force certain behaviors from
their subordinates. We've all make the statement, " if / were in charge -
things would be different ... " Howerver, leadership is not about a power trip,
but about giving power to the people under you. It's about giving them the tools
they need to do the job.
